VTG Glossary

We understand some of our clients are totally new to our services and don’t know audio terminology that well and have been confused by what some of it means. Hopefully this page can help you :)

DRY >

is an audio file with no effects. Nothing but the natural recording of the vocal. No reverb, echoes, pitch effects.

Normal Pitch >

just means we will keep our original & natural voice in the normal tone that it is. We will not manipulate the tone of our vocals in any way.

Low Pitch

means we will lower the tone of our vocals on the voice tag recording. (Make the voice sound deeper.)

High Pitch

means we will raise the tone of our vocals on the voice tag recording. (Make the voice sound higher or like a "chipmunk".)

Pitch Bend

is an automation effect where we make the tone of our vocals go from low pitch to high pitch or high pitch to low pitch in one single flow.

Stutters

is when an audio clip is simply just “chopped” or “sliced” into small-like patterns. Usually used at the beginning of a word or name.

Reverb

is an effect that makes an object sound as if it is in a room. We can make it sound as if it is in a big room or small room. There are many different types of effects for this. (Examples: Studio, Hall, Gym, Cathedral, Cave, etc..)

Delay / Echo

an echo is much like a more “delayed” version of a reverb that repeats with more “gaped'“ timing.

Reverse Reverb

is a popular effect that is done where the “tail” of an reverb effect is played in reverse or backwards. This effect gives a “sweeping” or “rising” type of sound.

Tapestop

this effect basically sounds like a turntable has been stopped or powered off. It’s much like a pitch bend but you can actually hear the audio stop and the end drags out a little longer.

Turnaround

is the time frame in which your product or service will be sent, emailed, or shipped to you.

Pitch

the quality of a sound governed by the rate of vibrations producing it; the degree of highness or lowness of a tone
